Fossaert

Yves Fossaert (*1960) began studying musicology at Paris-Sorbonne but quickly reoriented himself towards organ building on the advice of André Isoir. He then trained for ten years under the direction of organbuilders Gérald Guillemin (obtaining the diploma of Brevet de Compagnon-Facteur-d'Orgues from the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of Alsace in 1984) and then Jean-François Muno. He joined the workshop of Luxembourg builder Georg Westenfelder before settling in Seine-et-Marne in 1989. From 1999 to 2001, he was president of the Professional Group of French Organ Builders (GPFO) and organized its affiliation within UNIFA. In 2003, he was awarded the title of master craftsman and sponsored the 2004-2007 class of apprentices at the CNFA in Eschau. He runs a workshop of 6 to 8 Companions, including two pipemakers. He is particularly dedicated to design and harmony. The Yves Fossaert Organ Factory was awarded the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label in 2006, which was renewed in 2011. It has built about thirty instruments and restored many others.
